This week I decided to write a little about plans. What your going to do for the day, for the week, for the rest of your life. In order to keep a balanced schedule, you should have some free time, but you do need some things to do for the day, and you should have some agenda of whats going on.
If you always have an agenda then you won’t be able to every have some free time. You may miss out on something that can change your life forever. For example, if you have a place to be at this certain time, and you get invited to something, you can’t go. And the truth is, you may meet your future best friend, your long lost cousin, or the love of your life. But because your already planned for the day, you can’t go, so you miss out on that opportunity on meeting that certain someone, or even something that changes your life forever.
But if you never have anything to look for, you will never have anything to want to do. You’re just going to want to do nothing and miss out on everything. And if you don’t have that agenda, then you won’t have anywhere to go. You will always have nothing to do. You need that balance.
Personally, I am pretty balanced, but I am probably more on the agenda part of it. I always have to go to school, then come home and do all of my homework and studying, and then probably my extra curricular activity, dance, following that. After this, go to bed and the whole cycle begins again. But the only reason I seem to be balanced is because not every weekend I have something to do. Sometimes I have that break and have a chill day. A mental health day that everyone needs. And in the summer, I am also planned but also haver time to myself. I will have vacations to go to, but I will have days where I can just relax and plan the day as I go on.
Connecting this to creativity, its like an art piece. If you know exactly what your going to do, you are going to miss out on an opportunity of a new idea, because you like what you did and you don’t want to change it. But if you have no idea, then you will get nothing on the canvas or paper, whatever you may be working on. But keeping it balanced is having an idea, but letting new ideas flow and allowing those ideas to take over and do what they want. Being balanced is also about having that opportunity and allowing new ideas to come. If you are too much int the agenda, you may never get that amazing idea that will make you piece absolutely fantastic.
Personally, as an artist, I probably am more on the agenda, having an idea and knowing what I’m going to do. This affects me because I don’t like to make mistakes, so thats why I have a final idea and don’t let those ideas sprout because I know it will change my idea and I won’t know what do to from there. This is not the best thing because it stops me from creating those amazing art pieces I always have a goal for.
That is why it is always good to have a balance of things because too much of one thing can affect you negatively and may cause you into bad habits, just like I do, about not wanting to let myself push myself for those new ideas. You are a human being, allow mistakes to happen, they are normal. Allow those new ideas to come to mind, they are brilliant. Allow yourself to free draw, its self therapy, all of it is good for you, you just have to let it happen and do not hesitate. You are brilliant, do not hold back.
